Lead Teacher Toddlers - Rototuna EEW


Are you an experienced and passionate ECE teacher ready to lead a busy and engaging toddler learning environment?  Rototuna Early Education Centre is seeking a permanent, full time Lead Teacher to inspire and support our toddler room team.  If you are committed to fostering curiosity, confidence and independence in tamariki aged 18months to 3 years, we would love to hear from you.

What you will bring to our team:

  • Strong Leadership: The ability to lead and mentor a teaching team while working collaboratively within the wider centre.
  • Relationship-Driven Practice: Proven success in building positive, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues.
  • Intentional Teaching: Strong knowledge of planning, assessment, and curriculum design that supports toddlers' learning, development, and emerging independence.
  • Positive Guidance: Experience implementing positive behaviour guidance strategies that support emotional regulation and social competence.
  • Professional Mindset: A positive attitude, growth mindset, and experience contributing to internal evaluation and continuous improvement processes.
  • Excellent Communication: Outstanding communication skills and the ability to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative environment.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Provide a welcoming, safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where toddlers can explore, learn, and grow with confidence.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of engaging learning programmes that respond to children's interests, strengths, and developmental needs.
  • Support tamariki to develop independence, social competence, language skills, and self-help capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching teams and families to achieve the best outcomes for our children and centre community.
  • Ensure assessment, planning, learning stories, and individual plans are maintained to a high standard.
  • Build meaningful, trusting, and respectful relationships with children and their whānau.
  • Guide and support teaching practice within the room to ensure high-quality education and care aligned with Te Whāriki.
  • Contribute to a culture of reflection, continuous improvement, and professional growth across the centre.

What we're looking for:

  • ECE qualified and registered teacher (current practising certificate).
  • Previous leadership experience or proven ability to mentor and guide others.
  • Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki and contemporary early childhood teaching practices.
  • A genuine passion for supporting toddlers through this exciting stage of growth and development.
  • A commitment to creating positive learning outcomes for all tamariki.
